What is it about that friendship that no matter where you are in the world or where you are in your life’s timeline, you have that special friendship that never ends? Well, that is your forever friend.
I often thank my lucky stars that I have found these friendships around the world. The type that you can pick up without a backward glance, the kind of company that is easy to slot back into, as if time has stood still and we are back where we were last time we met. It doesn’t matter if it was weeks or years since our recent chat; nothing has changed in the slightest (except for a few grey hairs, maybe).

Those friendships also mean that they are not hard to work; there is no chasing to arrange a catch-up and no one-way channel insight. The appreciation of each other is evident, and the feeling that nothing is ever too much or that you are a bother if you come to visit.
These friends are your forever friends; it doesn’t matter what nationality they are or what country they reside in; these are the friends that have become more like family. They are there during particular times in your life, the good times, the bad times and let’s face it, all the times in between.
Forever friends are those real gems; in fact, they are priceless! They have seen you at your best, living life to the fullest and, of course, on the ready with a tub of ice cream and a bottle of wine to listen to how life has hit that almighty speed bump.Â
They never question the decisions you make, never judge you for your mistakes. They are the friends you can speak freely to, the friends that you can be yourself around. How blessed I have these people in my life, even more, blessed that I have more than one.
I am sure there are many of us out there thinking the same thing. Sometimes we need that one constant in our lives, but somehow we are lucky enough to have found more. Bonds are hard to come by, so when you find your tribe, hold onto those friendships no matter where they are.Â
During 2020 I felt that these friendships (at times) have kept me going. Being able to zoom, facetime, or skype anywhere in the world at any time of day has given me the excuse to call these friends more often than my busy 2019 life allowed me to.

Thank you, social media, for allowing life friendships to be much less complicated than in the past because I am hopeless at writing letters the traditional way.Â
Close friends are truly life’s treasures. Sometimes they know us better than we know ourselves. With gentle honesty, they are there to guide and support us, to share our laughter and our tears. Their presence reminds us that we are never really alone.  Â
