The PARKROYAL on Beach Road Revitalised

Ginger Dining Area

The PARKROYAL on Beach Road opens its doors after a major refurbishment, and I will give you an honest rundown on my review of my PARKROYAL on Beach Road, so here we go!

Firstly, I know that this hotel previously, and maybe even now, I am guessing, is aiming for this to be a suitable business hotel; however, I am going to say it had more of a family fun vibe. It is not to say that the rooms (which I will go into more detail about shortly) do have a very business, clean-cut, straight-down-the-line business feel to them. However, I didn’t get the same feel from the rest of the hotel; I felt like I had landed in the tropics, and I knew my kids would love it here.

The hotel’s location is perfect for those wanting to venture out as tourists, as this ideally located hotel is minutes away from the Marina Bay area and close to Raffles and downtown. Great location if you are heading to Singapore for the Grand Prix or a stop over to explore the little red dot. Actually, I would even include this in an excellent staycation idea for a weekend away with the family.

PARKROYAL on Beach Road is located at 7500 Beach Rd, Singapore 199591, with the closest MRT being Nicoll Highway MRT station Contact details are as follows: +65 6505 5666 or email on [email protected]; otherwise, book via the link provided here. We all know how much I love a loyalty program. The PARKROYAL is part of the Pan Pacific DISCOVERY membership, which includes Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts, PARKROYAL Hotel and Resorts and PARKROYAL Collections.

THE PARKROYAL on Beach Road Review

When you enter the lobby, you feel like you have stepped straight into a Tropical Island holiday. With an abundance of scattered plants and some jungle feeling interior, this hotel screams relax and enjoy from the moment you arrive.

The Rooms

There are a few rooms to choose from at the PARKROYAL on Beach Road, which all have the same interior. Lush beds, minimalistic interior and all the modern cons, including no more bottled water, instead a filtered tap to enjoy as much drinkable water of your choice. The twin rooms have two super king single beds, which you could easily fit two children in one bed; they are that big.

Rooms vary from Superior to PARKROYAL Club Premier Room, allowing lounge access for its members. The lounge privileges include daily light refreshments between 11 am and 8 pm and evening cocktails between 6 pm and 8 pm.

The PARKROYAL Club Premier Room needs its own mention; the 42sqm bedroom has its own gorgeous Singapore view from the balcony along with a deep sunken bath, extremely comfortable king beds and a little lounge area to relax in after a big day of shopping and sightseeing in Singapore.

St Gregory Spa

The St Gregory Spa is next to the Pool and gym. With current day spa packages available. When posting this article, they offered a 75-minute Thalion Oxygen and Radiance facial along with a 15-minute scalp massage for SGD 185 ++ or a 60-minute Aromatic body bliss massage and a 30-minute scrub for only SGD 190 +++ Pure luxury and indulgence.

The Gym

Right next door, you will find the gymnasium with all the equipment you need for a workout during your stay at the PARKROYAL on Beach Rd. Modern machines offer free weights and plenty of room to move around between sessions. It has to be one of the largest hotel gyms I have seen in Singapore so far.

The Pool

Who doesn’t check out the Pool when staying at a hotel in Singapore? Whether you are coming from abroad or you are staycationing with the family, the Pool is an essential part of your stay. I know other hotels in the area are so well known for their infinity pool that the rooms are a second thought when booking. The Pool area does not disappoint; from the skyline view and the Olympic size pool, this area is one of my favourites, oh and I can’t forget the relaxed bar area to make it that little bit more special.

Unwind after work or after dinner with its perfectly named bar, CLUB 5; it is the perfect place to be after work or for a nightcap before heading to your hotel room. Also, look out for their social hours (currently running between 5 pm to 12 am daily. Speaking from experience, the cocktails are delicious, and if you close your eyes while drinking the mocktails, you can smell, taste and feel the little red dot yourself; in other words, if I were able to bottle Singapore, then Club 5 nailed it!

Si Chuan Dou Hua

If hot and spicy is your thing and the thought of Sichuan cuisine makes all your senses tingle, head over to the Si Chuan Dou Hua. Before your delicious meal of Chinese delights, enjoy a drink in the tea room for that authentic Chinese experience. I love the traditional feel this restaurant has; very different from the rest of the hotel but took me back to my time in China; definitely worth trying this restaurant if only for the ambience alone; a big thumbs up from me here. Currently, happy hour runs daily from 630pm to 730pm.

Okay, I usually don’t get wowed by a buffet-style restaurant, but can I say, I loved everything about this dining area, and I will be coming back again soon. Sure, it has been a very long time since I have been able to eat at a buffet-style restaurant. Still, in saying that, I was excited as soon as I stepped into the area, from the gorgeous Tahitian-style fans to the tastefully decorated island interior; this place had me at “hello”, and I hadn’t even tried the food yet! The food (especially the Sashimi where I returned for a second serving) was everything I remember about living in Tokyo. I highly recommend eating here, especially with a family (like mine) who all like different cuisines.

Kampong Glam

With only a few minutes walk to quirky Kampong Glam, there are loads of things to do in this area. From some great Middle Eastern-style restaurants to some quirky boutiques and great bars, Kampong glam has a massive amount of history attached to the site. I recommend a guided tour if you plan a walking area tour. But, if riding in a rickshaw is more up your alley, then you can not go past Trishaw Uncle as a fun way to see the area with a little bit of history attached to it.

Beach Road

If you are like me and want to eat your way around Singapore, Beach Road is a great place to start. First, you could start with one of my favourite fusion restaurants, Vatos the Urban Tacos. You could also go bar hopping with some amazing bars in this area like Mr Stork and The Atlas bar, to name a couple. Not far from here is the Projector Movie theatre for that old fashion movie experience with mainly Indie style movies and documentaries; there is also a bar for pre-movie drinks with a few nibblies on offer.

Raffles Hotel

Walking for approximately 12 minutes in the other direction will land you at Raffles Hotel and CHIJMES, where you can spend the afternoon enjoying a high tea experience at Raffles Hotel or enjoying your time wandering the grounds of CHIJMES. In between these exciting areas to explore is Raffles City Mall, where you can find the latest boutiques and Major brands all in one Mall.

Not only do you have another choice of shopping complex and some more great dining choices at your doorstep, but you also have the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre within walking distance to the PARKROYAL on Beach Road.
